The Rise And Rise Of Pinterest

Here is something which may blow your mind. You must know what Instagram is? Millions use it and it is one of the most popular social network sites. However, it is not the number one picture sharing website. Small but mighty, Pinterest is not only the number one photo sharing site but also the 5th most popular social media website.

But, if you ask the average teenager if they use Pinterest, the likely response you’ll get is a blank expression. With 70 million users (as of July 2013), Pinterest isn’t as popular compared to it’s competitors Instagram and Flickr who have more than 85 million users each but it is most notable for the amount of female users registered on there (over 80%).

Stat attack!

  1. Pinterest generates over 400% more revenue per click as Twitter and 27% more than Facebook.

  2. The average time spent on Pinterest is 14.2 minutes.

  3. 80% of users are female.

  4. Pinterest has 1.36 millions visitors per day.

  5. 80% of Pinterest pins are repins. Therefore, the more you share and pin, the more it will get spread around.

What makes Pinterest so different though? Pinterest allows users to create collections of photos and when they have been created, users can repin photos to their profile.

It is a unique website and is only going to get better in 2014! It is miraculous the progress which has been made in the space of a couple of years and there is a feeling that Pinterest are just getting started!

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela

“Love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Nelson Mandela, one of the most influential and inspirational human beings of all time achieved eternal freedom on the 5th December 2013. A man who not only inspired a nation or continent, he inspired a generation. He was South Africa’s first ever black president and he won over 250 honours including the Noble Peace Prize in 1993, Nelson Mandela changed the world.
He was a man who never gave up, stood up for what he believed in and spent a third of his life in prison because he changed the world, he changed how we think, speak, act. His achievements make him one of the most outstanding figures in the 20th century, a man who will always be remembered.

After serving 27 years in prison for fighting against Apartheid, he was released from prison in 1990. Four years later, he not only became the first black president of South Africa but he was also the first president to be elected in a completely democratic election. He was the man who finally broke down racial barriers in South Africa and brought white and black’s together for the first time ever in South Africa.

Here is a selection of tweets from people across the world, ranging from sportsmen to presidents to musicians. These tweets just show how influential he was to the world and how much he will be missed.

RIP Nelson Mandela. No words to describe the goodness you have brought to this world. Sad to see you go. Inspirational, my only ever hero.

Nelson Mandela may be gone but he certainly will not be forgotten.

“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.”

Nelson Mandela 1918 – 2013.
